Monologue Competition

Put your hard work on stage for the world to see! Show us what you've got by entering your monologue to our competition. You'll have a shot at being selected to perform it live on stage, receiving feedback from industry experts, and win THE BIG PRIZE. Submit today!

Submission details

entry instructions & rules

  1. Competition open to teens 15-17

  2. Film yourself performing your monologue (max 2 mins) 

    • Monologues must come from a play or from the selection we have provided. Monologues may not come from movies, tv shows, or be personally written

    • Entries must be suitable for high school students and community with regards to subject matter and performance. Violation of this rule is grounds for disqualification

    • Monologues must be memorized

    • No elaborate props, costumes, or character makeup are allowed

    • Please include a slate (introduce yourself in your tape), this won't count towards the 2 minute time limit

  3. Submit your monologue along with your entry fee and you're all set!​​​​

    • Deadline for submissions is Feb 21​​

*The Actors Room requires that every applicant pay the registration fee at the time of registration - registration fee must be paid prior to or at the time of uploading your video for our first round of judging and to be considered for our live rounds

Tips for your self tape

  • Frame yourself in a medium or wide shot (your head and upper chest need to be visible, don't film any closer than that)

  • If you're using a phone please shoot landscape (phone horizontal) and not portrait (phone upright)

  • make sure you are properly lit and in a quiet place, we want to see and hear you! There won't be any mics at the live competition, so remember to project ​​​​

Judging & awards

  1. A panel of judges will be used for each category/division

  2. All applicants will receive a written or video critique of their monologue

  3. Those selected to advance to the live round will be notified via email

  4. The top 10 finalists in each category/division will be invited to perform at our live competition on March 1, 2025 at St. Stephen's Elementary School

    • All applicants will be invited to participate in our Industry Insider Panel Discussion, which will be held prior to our final round on the day of our live event​
